Paul David Abernathy, 71, died Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at his residence.
He was a native of Thomasville, retired from Bell South and served in the U.S. Air Force and retired as a reservist in the Army National Guard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Cleo Abernathy; and brother, Bill Abernathy.
He is survived by his daughters, Nicole Abernathy Sessoms of Mebane and Laurie Abernathy Newlin of Burlington; son, Tony Abernathy of Hawaii; grandchildren, Tyson Sessoms, Olivia Sessoms, Samantha Newlin, Jake Abernathy, Luke Abernathy and Zack Abernathy; and sisters, Peggy Ferguson of South Carolina and Frances (David) Brooks of Freemont.
A service to celebrate his life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, April 18, 2016, in the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane by Pastor David Brooks. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Mebane Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday morning from 10 until 11 a.m. before the service.
