Jane Abner (sometimes seen as Abney) was born about 1797 in Kentucky. She married Henry Winkler II in Estill County, Kentucky on February 7, 1813. They settled in Randolph County, Missouri. Henry died there in 1846-1847. Jane was alive in the 1870 census of Randolph County, Missouri, living with her son, John, a widow, and his family. Jane's daughter, Margaret Winkler, was also in the home. In the 1880 census of Macon County, Missouri, Jane was living with her son, Lewis, a widow, and his family. It is not known when Jane Winkler died or where she is buried, but a likely location is Enon Cemetery in Macon County, Missouri. Several of Lewis Winkler's family members are buried there, and it is believed that he, too, is buried at Enon. Another possible location for Jane Winkler's burial is Hickory Grove Cemetery in Monroe County, Missouri, where it is believed her husband, Henry, may be buried as is her son, John, and other Winkler relatives. The Winkler’s lived in eastern Randolph County not far from Hickory Grove Cemetery in western Monroe County.
