Mrs. J C Archer Buried Friday

Following an illness of more than a year, Mrs. J C Archer passed away Wednesday evening about 9:30 at her home two miles east of this city. For the past few weeks her condition had seemed better and her death came as a shock to members of her family and host of friends.

Mrs. Archer, formerly Eva May Cole, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W B Cole, was born August 16 1891 in Atkins, Arkansas. Left an orphan at the age of 8 years, she came to Okolona and made her home with her aunt, Mrs. T R Schrimsher. She was educated at the Okolona High School and State Teachers' College, Hattiesburg. For several years she taught in the public schools of Calhoun City, Okolona and McGill's Community. In 1914 she was married to Mr. Archer. With the exception of a few years they lived near West Point, they spent their married life in Okolona.

Mrs. Archer was a consecrated member of the Presbyterian Church; and until her illness, was very prominent in its activities. She served as president of the local Auxiliary and also as secretary of Spiritual Life of East Mississippi Presbyterial. She was known and loved throughout the Presbyterial for her unusual ability and deep spirituality. At the time of her death she was a member of the West Point Church, having been ill since her return to Okolona a year ago.
