Samuel J. Abbott, 43, of Chanute, Kansas, passed away Monday, March 13, 2006 at his home in Chanute, Kansas.
He was born on January 13, 1963 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of James and Carol Lee (Harris) Abbott.
As a child Sam moved to Iola and then Chanute with his parents where he attended Chanute schools.
He married Angie Friederich. They divorced. He later married Cindy Anthony. They divorced.
He was a master plumber working for a local union in Wichita before moving to Rogers, AR, where he worked for Aladin Realtors until he became ill with cancer in November 2004.
He enjoyed riding his Harley and was a certified scuba diver, often scuba diving off of his house boat at Beaver Lake. In December 2004, he scuba dived with his brother, in the Atlantic, off the Florida Keys.
Sam is survived by his six children, Andrew Abbott of the home, Miranda Abbott and Jeremy Maloun of Chanute, KS, Samantha Anthony of New York, Levi Abbott of Wichita, KS, and Gracie Alexander of Chanute, KS; one stepdaughter, Lauryn Miller of Wichita, KS; his foster parents for 28 years, Dan and Ann Emerson and siblings, Danny and Annette Emerson, all of Chanute, KS; a nephew, Aaron Emerson of Lawrence, KS; a niece, Brianne Emerson, and a great-niece, Callie Ray, both of Chanute, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation will take place. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Chanute, Kansas.
Memorials for the children's educational fund may be left with the funeral home.
