Olof Merle Abrahams, son of Jonas and Carrie Abrahams was born February 21, 1885, at Alfta, Sweden and passed away at the Republic County hospital (sic) at Belleville, Kan., on October 29, at the age of 76 years and 9 months.

He came to America with his parents in 1888, from Sweden. They came directly to the Wayne community, where he spent most of his life. He joined the Methodist church as an early age and was a devoted and faithful member throughout his life, serving in almost every official capacity in the church.

In 1911, he was united in marriage to Sarah Reeder, who passed away on March 23, 1925. In 1926, he was united in marriage to Olive Englund Nelson.

For more than 42 years he served the Wayne community as rural mail carrier. A faithful servant, but was never too busy to stop and give his neighbors a helping hand. He retired in 1955, and spent the remainder of his life traveling and enjoying his family. He was a kind and thoughful (sic) husband and father and a joy to all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters, and one infant son, Wallace Leon. Surviving are his wife, Olive of Wayne, six children and their families, Clare and Lorraine Abrahams, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Dean and Arlene Abrahams, Caldwell, Ido. (sic), Emily and Paul Wilcox, Kansas City, Kan., Merrill and Loretha Abrahams, Caldwell, Ido. (sic), Maynard and Anne Ruth Abrahams, Taft, Tex., and Carolyn and Tim Ott, Salina, Kan. Nine grandchildren: Eugene, Neil, Jaymie, Stephen, Karen and June Wilcox and Dee Ann Wylie; and three great grandchildren: Casanda, Michelle and Ted Wylie, one sister, Mrs. Ida Nelson of Belleville, one brother, Clarence of Overland Park, Kan., and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral service was held at the Wayne Methodist church (sic) on November 1, with Rev. Harmon Lackey and Rev. John Frint conducting. Interment was at the Rose Hill Cemetery.
