She was the wife of Leland B. Harless (1913-1981), whom she married on on December 27, 1935 in Pineville, Wyoming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Wyoming County, WV, 1935, Page 240, Application Date: December 27, 1935).
Violet is survived by her daughter, Betty Harless-Lilly and her husband Rev. Gene Burnside, Nutter Fort; her son, Jack Harless and his wife Joyce, Durham, N.C.; four grandchildren, Tomi Davis and her husband Bill, Morgantown; Timothy Lilly and his wife Donna, Goochland, Va.; Jeremy Harless and his wife Elizabeth, and Bradford Harless, all of Raleigh, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Stephen Davis and his wife Kristina; Stacy Hollar and her husband Brad; Alex Lilly; and Amy Lilly; and great-great-grandchildren, Rylie and Evan Hollar.
Violet was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by her sister, Thelma B. Acord-Cook (1912-2004); and brothers, Willis Acord (Died 1985), Jack Acord, her twin Vernon Acord (1916-Deceased), and William "Bill" Acord (Died 1984).
Violet was a member of the Nutter Fort Baptist Church before residing in Mount Hope.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Saturday. Visitation will then be held at Palm Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Matheny, W.Va., on Sunday afternoon from 1:30 to 2 pm, where the services will be held at 2 p.m. with Reverend Gene Burnside presiding.
