Mrs. Mary A. Abbey passed away after a serious illness of less than a week, preceded by several months of failing health, Thursday afternoon, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. D. H. Montgomery, on Warren avenue. Mrs. Abbey was born seventy-six years ago in London and came from England to New York City at the age of 12 years. She was confirmed and married in Old Trinity Episcopal church in New York City by Bishop Bedell.
Mrs. Abbey was the widow of a Civil war veteran and she was a charter member of the General Fisher Circle of ladies of the G.A.R. For twelve years Mrs. Abbey has made her home with Mrs. Montgomery, who ministered kindly to her mother in her declining years. Another daughter, Mrs. Hattie Drury, and son. Robert N. Abbey, of Chicago and a sister and brother in Rutherford. N.J., survive her.
