He was born in Wilton, Alabama on September 24, 1919 a son of the late William B. and Daisy Cabeness Adams.
Mr. Adams was retired Manager of Clifton - Forge - Waynesboro Telephone Company, a member of the Clifton Forge Baptist Church, the Men=s Bible Class and was a former Deacon of the Church. He was active in community affairs, including, serving on the Clifton Forge City Council as well as former Vice Mayor. He was past president of the Clifton Forge Lions Club and was a member for over 50 years. He was a former Director of F. N. B., a former director of the Greater Alleghany Chamber of Commerce and Past President of the Clifton Forge Chamber of Commerce. He was also a director and second-vice president of the Clifton Forge Development Corporation. Mr. Adams served as a Staff Sargent in the US Army during WWII in the European Theatre.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, June Graybeal Adams of Clifton Forge; one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn Elaine and Bruce E. Ingram of Troutville; one son and daughter-in-law, Melvin E. and Kathrena R. Adams of Northfield, Vermont; four grandchildren, Mary Beth Gore and husband Dana, Thomas C. Adams, Sarah E. Ingram and Mark E. Ingram; one great-grandchild, Benjamin Gabriel Gore; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Dan Allen Adams in 1980; and six brothers and two sisters.
