Margaret Eppley Smith, 66, wife of J. Michael Smith, of Summerville, SC, died Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon, August 22, 2008 at Bethany United Methodist Church in Summerville at two o 'clock. Burial will be in Plantation Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at PARKS FUNERAL HOME Thursday evening from six until eight o'clock.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 4 Carriage Lane, Suite 205, Charleston, SC 29407.

Mrs. Smith was born August 9, 1942 in Spartanburg, SC. She was the daughter of Frances Riddle Hellams and the late Lloyd James Eppley.

She was a homemaker and a member of Bethany United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her mother, Frances Hellams of Hickory Tavern, SC; her husband, J. Michael Smith of Summerville, SC; one son, J. Michael Smith, Jr. of Easley, SC; four brothers, Paul Eppley of Hickory Tavern, SC, James C. Eppley of Laurens, SC, John L. Eppley of Greenville, and Billy F. Hellams of Anderson; one sister, Doris Johnson of Laurens; three grandchildren, Tiffany B. Jones, Michael Chance Smith, and Lacie Amber Smith.

Mrs. Smith was predeceased by a daughter, Jacqueline Denise Absher.
