Dale R. Ackerman (auctioneer), 65, of Salmon, Idaho, passed away 3 November 2006 of a sudden illness at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born 17 April 1941 at Ottawa, Kansas. Dale moved his family to Salmon in 1977, where he and Sharon started Ack's Auction in 1980, then opened "The Trading Post", a second hand store, in 1981. Dale loved his auctioneering and the patrons that attended his auctions. He was willing to volunteer he services for many benefit auctions in the area. Dale was a member of the Salmon Rotary Club, Salmon Valley Chamber of Commerce, Salmon Arts Council, the National Pawn Brokers Association, Idaho State and National Auctioneers Associations. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He is survived by his wife, Sharon, of Salmon; two sons, Steven (Berta) Ackerman of Hemet, California and Roger (Dawne) Ackerman of Salmon; four grandchildren, Steven and Selena of Hemet, California and Jesse and Zack of Salmon, mother, Opal Ackerman of Ottawa, Kansas; two sisters, Joyce (Jim) Weidner of Ottawa, Kansas, Berneda (Adrian) Griffin of Flower Mound, Texas; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Ackerman in 1986. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services were held at the Salmon Elks Lodge 15 November 2006.
