Hazel Elaine Stolworthy Henderson Redmon, 87, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, at her home in Mt. Carmel, Utah. She was born Aug. 17, 1921, in Flagstaff to Ezkiel Buffington Newman Sr. and Julia Scorse.

During her life she was married to Stanford Stolworthy, Larry Henderson and Jack Redmon, all of whom preceded her in death. She was sealed to her family in the St. George Temple.

Hazel was raised summers on her parents' sheep ranch in Heber where she enjoyed riding horses. She attended school in Phoenix during the winters and finished her elementary education in Holbrook. She then attended two years at the Northern Arizona Teacher's College in Flagstaff.

Hazel was very intelligent and loved to read. She enjoyed archaeology and liked learning about the ancient people of the area. She did lovely needlework and enjoyed cooking and caring for her family. She was also known for her ability to tell stories and her sense of humor.

As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served as a Sunday School teacher and played music for several different ward auxiliaries.

Survivors include children Julia (Gene) Kittell of Mt. Carmel, Utah, David (Jolyn) Henderson of Hurricane, Utah, Frances (Lyle) Sloan of Ririe, Idaho, Joan (Raymond) Stewart of Orderville, Utah, and Grace (Cline) Campbell of Idaho Falls, Idaho; brother Harry Newman of Overgaard; 38 grandchildren, 83 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her three husbands, siblings Verna Abbott, Julia Newman and Ezekiel Buffington Jr., grandson Micah Kittell and great-grandson Jack Barry.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 3, at 11 a.m. in the Orderville Utah LDS Church. A viewing will be held Friday at the church from 10-10:45 a.m.

Burial will be in the Orderville Cemetery under the direction of Mosdell Mortuary.
