He was born near Alta October 18, 1912, a son of John and Bernice Wood Hawksworth. He married Geneva Hart January 17, 1934, in Princeville.
Surviving are his widow, two sons, Gary and Joe, both of Peoria, five daughters, Mrs. Edward (Winnie) Kear of Princeville, Mrs. William (Colleen) Cramer of Peoria, Mrs. Sharon Hernandez of Maryland, Mrs. Robert (Vickie) Ward and Mrs. Keith (Bernice) Keylor, both of St. Charles, Mo., 20 grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Nyle (Grace) Finch.
Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
He was a charter member of Princeville Post VFW and a member of Operators and Engineers Union, Local 649.
Services were held in the Bouton-Hammitt Funeral Home with Rev. William Smith officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery.
