Barbara was born August 26, 1933, in Minot, the daughter of Russell and Edna Abrahamson. They moved to Iowa for several years. Later she moved back to Minot. She graduated from Minot High School in 1951. Barbara married Edward Alex Schwan on January 21, 1953. The majority of their life together was spent on the farm in Karlsruhe.
Barbara loved playing bingo, reading, cooking and bowling. She enjoyed watching "The Price Is Right". She is fondly remembered for always having a smile and needing a hug.
Survivors: husband, Edward Schwan, Karlsruhe; daughter, Susanne (Bruce) Lennick, Newman Lake, WA; sons, Steven (Janet) Schwan, Thomas (Julie) Schwan, Adrian (Sandy) Schwan, all of Bismarck, ND, Timothy Schwan, White Bear Lake, MN, William (Jennifer) Schwan, Powell, WY, Alex Schwan, San Antonio, TX, and Christopher Schwan, Underwood, ND; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Beverly Keigley and Jane Page, both of Boone, IA; brothers, Stan Abrahamson, Boone, and Jack Abrahamson, Gillette, WY. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Larry Abrahamson.
Funeral: Monday, December 1, 2003, at 10:30 am at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Karlsruhe.
Visitation: Saturday from 1:00 until 5:00 pm and Sunday noon until 7:00 pm, at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Vigil Prayer Service: Sunday at 7:00 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Burial: Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
