He was born January 13, 1919, in Madison County, Virginia, to the late Robert S. Acty Sr. and Mary B. Willis Acty.
Mr. Acty was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Ann Acty and a son, Mark Anthony.
Mr. Acty retired after many years of owning and managing his automobile Repair shop in the Capital Heights, Maryland, ares. After his retirement, he and his wife returned to their native Madison County to enjoy their golden years. He was a member and Deacon of Locust Grove Baptist Church in Radiant.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 54 years, Mrs. Astorie Turner Acty of Radiant; one son, Robert S. Acty Ill and his wife, Debra, of Forestville, Maryland; four daughters, Dr. Audria Thomas and her husband, Robert Leycock, of St. Thomas, Virgin Insland, Mrs. Patricia D. Newby and her husband, Reginald, of Lamharn, Maryland, Mrs. Pamela A Wilson and her husband, Joseph E., of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, and Mrs. C. Robyn Plater and her husband, Tony, of Bowie, Maryland; one sister, Mrs. Audrey Avery of Gordonsville, Virginia; and a brother, William Lee Acty of Washington, D.C.; 12 grandchildren, one great- grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, December 18, 2008, at the Locust Grove Baptist Church in Radiant, Virginia, with pastor Leonard Ray officiating.
Viewing will be held at the funeral home from 1 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2008, and from 10 a.m. until time of service, 11 a.m. Thursday, December 18, 2008, at the church. Interment will follow at the Culpeper National Cemetery.
