Meade A. Abbey

Meade Abbey passed away September 10, 2012, at St. Mary's Hospital, he was 92. Meade was born on October 8, 1919, in Scottsville, Kansas from the union of Oscar and Hazel Abbey. He graduated from Norway High School. He married Irene Mills on April 4, 1943. The family had previously lived in Kansas before moving to Grand Junction. He was a resident of Grand Junction for 73 years. Meade was in the US Army during WWII, member of the Eagles Lodge, and a member of the 1st Congregational Church. He was also a Captain for the Grand Junction Police Department. Meade loved to go bowling, camping, and gardening. Meade leaves behind three nephews, Dennis (Carmen) Smith; Ken (Lori) Smith, and Mark Head. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Abbey; his parents, and one sister, Norma Jean Banks. A Visitation will be held on Friday, September 14, 2012, from 9 - 11:00 a.m. at Martin Mortuary, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m., with a Graveside Service at Memorial Gardens.
