David graduated from Center High School in 1980 and the Kansas City Art Institute in 1985. He taught Art at Hickman Mills High School for 15 years and one year at the University Academy. During the past 4 years he directed the New Dimensions education program at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. David was a lifelong teacher and artist who always looked for the best in people and the beauty in life. He was a member of The Temple, Congreation B'nai Jehudah and was a former member of Yachad – the Traveling Tefillah Band. David enjoyed camping, hiking, and music, especially playing his drums.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Robert Adelman and his brother-in-law, Lynn Yung. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Maryanna Adelman, of the home; daughter: Anna Adelman and his son: Robbie Adelman, both of the home; sisters and brother-in-law: Julie Yung, Blue Springs, MO; Amy and Paul Klein, Merriam, KS and Robyn Adelman, Kansas City, MO.
