Adamson, Mary S. - (Lt. 4, Blk. 12, Sec. 3) Mary S. Adamson passed away in the St. Catherine's Hospital in Garden City, September 2, 1949, after a 6 week period of serious illness at the age of 31 years, 3 months, and 12 days. She was born on a farm northwest of St. John, KS., in Stafford County, to Jessie and Isaac Newton Beaver, being the youngest of six. Mary attended the Douglas Grade School and graduated from the St John High School. She later attended the Fort Hays college and taught six years in the rural schools of Stafford County and one year in the Lakin Grade School. She was united in marriage to Cecil Birt Adamson, January 15, 1943, at the Eden Valley parsonage near St. John with Rev. H.D. Michael officiating. Since her husband's return from the service, they have made their home in Kearny County north of Lakin. At the age of 12 she was baptized into the Eden Valley Church of the Brethren. Then, October 6, 1946, she transferred her letter to the Lakin Methodist Church where she remained a diligent worker till the time of her passing. She was preceded in death by her father in 1924, her mother in 1928, and an infant brother in 1911.
She leaves to mourn her untimely passing her husband and his family, Mr. and Mrs. B.E. Adamson and Erma of Garden City; two sisters, Esther Rimmer of Palo Alto, CA., and Virginia Gill of Piedmont, OK; two brothers, Millard Beaver of Dighton, KS., and Harley Beaver of St. John, KS.; two sisters-in-law, Edith and Faye; one brother-in-law, Eson Gill; two nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
