Eva Dozier Hardaway was born on January 27, 1927 to Jessie and Evelyn Dozier in Cataula, Georgia. Both preceded her in death. Eva joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church at an early age. She attended school in Harris County, Georgia.
Eva married James Hardaway on May 15, 1947; they moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1948 to begin a new life together, and soon joined Dexter Avenue Baptist Church. She retired from the JL Hudson Company in 1982. The lives of James and Eva together ended when James departed this life on June 17, 2006. Eva peacefully followed him on February 27, 2008.
Several sisters and brothers preceded her in death, Alydia Cook, Jessie Abbott, Mittie Walker, Sylvester Dozier, Bessie Stevens, James Dozier, Lizzie Johnson, and Evelyn Adams.
Eva leaves to cherish her memory, one sister, Ruby Dozier, Washington, DC, one brother, Samuel Dozier, Columbus, Ga., and a devoted niece, Vivian Timmons, Atlanta, Ga., Sisters-in-law, Mildred Pierce, Bernice Hardaway, Marie Hardaway, Marion Hardaway, Valerie Hardaway, Annie Velma Hardaway, Mary Ellen Parker, Dortha Owens, Sandra Hardaway (d), Sheila Broadnax, Cathynia Dixon, Lucinda Richards, Margaret Richards, Carolyn Richards, Dorothy Baines, Ronether Ware and Mamie L. Robinson (d). Brothers-in-law, John D. Pierce (d), William Hardaway (d), Albert Hardaway, Linwood Hardaway, Johnny Hardaway, Hill Hardaway, Jasper Hardaway (d), Felix Parker, Joe Owens, Ernest Richards, Jesse Richards, Willie Hardaway, Cecil Richards, Willie Ware and Melvin Broadnax. Eva also leaves to cherish her memory, a host of loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends.
