Memorial services were held Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Minden with Mary Schukar officiating. Burial was at Minden Cemetery with military honors by the Minden American Legion and the Heartwell Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was born April 11, 1925, in Minden to Alfred and Bernice (Williams) Rasmussen.
On May 14, 1950, he married Norma Aabel.
Survivors include his wife; son, John Rasmussen and his wife, Tisha, of Omaha; daughters, Robbie Rath and her husband, Rick, of Doniphan and Debbie Cavenee and her husband, Dan, and Shari Kimple and her husband, Kerry, all of Kearney; brother, Glen Rasmussen and his wife, Marilyn, of Minden; sister, Madeline Boucher of California; grandchildren, Ron Rath, Roxanne Frederickson and her husband, Chip, Tanner Cavenee and his wife, Chasity, Ryan Cavenee, Travis Kimple, Lindsy Kimple and her fiancé, Jeremy Pettinger, and Macy and Jack Rasmussen; and great-grandchildren, William and Corinne Frederickson and Kendal Cavenee.
He grew up in the Minden area and graduated from Minden High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. While in the service, he was involved in the invasion of Omaha Beach at Normandy. After the service, he returned to Minden. He and his wife made their home in Minden. He and his brother, Glen, owned and operated B&G Floor Service in Minden for 38 years.
He enjoyed life and being around people. He enjoyed the horse races, fishing and boating with his family and dancing. Most of all, he loved his family, the family vacations, following his children in their activities and then taking part in his grandchildren's activities.
