The following is a newspaper obit for Ron from the Southern Maryland Newspapers.

Ronald Gene Abell, 50, of Marbury died Dec. 4, 2007.
Born Jan. 7, 1957, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Carlisle Abell and the late Nettie Mae Shannon Abell.

He was raised in Marbury on his parents' farm, where he enjoyed a happy childhood and grew to love the small town life. Eventually, he built his own log cabin on the Abell farm where he settled with his own family.

Receiving his education in Charles County, he graduated from Lackey High School in 1975. After high school, he attended the Charles County Community College and received his associate of arts degree in 1977. He then moved on to the University of Maryland and graduated in 1979 with his bachelor of arts degree in business management. After graduation, he began work at Tri-County Electric Supply (now United Electric Supply) and was trained as its purchasing and inventory control manager. ‘‘Ronnie" was a career employee who earned the respect of fellow staff members and became a role model with a reputation for dependability, hard work, and unquestionable ethics. These qualities lead to his eventual promotion to Waldorf branch manager.

He developed an appreciation for tradition, days gone by and old-time objects. His passions included bluegrass music, antique tractors, old cars and Southern Maryland history. He carried on many traditions with pride such as raising hay and maintaining Marbury Run Park and Park Hill Cemetery. He raised funds for the American Cancer Society through the Relay for Life events. While many chores kept him busy, he was determined to continue in the way of life he loved and valued. Faith, family and friends were his treasures. He was a lifelong member of the Church of God.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Paula Cleary Locher.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Brenda; daughter, Rebecca Lauren Abell; sister, Patricia; brother, Lawrence; sisters-in-law, Linda Abell, Linda Bubnack and Wendy Cleary; brothers-in-law, James Cleary, Lawrence Bubnack, Barry Kruemmel and Brian Locher; nephews, Steve and Mike Abell, Cameron Kruemmel, Luke Cleary Breazzano; niece, Samantha Kruemmel; great-nephew, Trevor Abell and great-niece, Madelyn Abell.

Visitation was held Dec. 6 at Marbury Baptist Church, Marbury, where a service was held Dec. 7. The Rev. Darrell Hazard of Accokeek Church of God officiated. Burial took place at Park Hill Cemetery, Marbury.

Memorial contributions may be made to Park Hill Cemetery Association, 5395 Oswald Place, Indian Head, MD 20640 or American Cancer Society (c⁄o Donna Cunningham), 1875 Connecticut Ave., N.W. Suite 730, Washington, DC 20009.

Arrangements were handled by Williams Funeral Home, Indian Head.
