She loved the desert in the morning. She would take early morning walks in the desert, feeding the quail or having coffee with a friend. She enjoyed word search and jigsaw puzzles and playing cards. She would bake pies by the dozen and also enjoyed rock hunting in the desert and flower gardening. She drove cross country many times to visit her family, which she had been very committed to.
Survivors include her daughters Jonna R. Vreeland of California, Wanda F. Precourt of Massachusetts, and Karen K. Fanning of Massachusetts; sons Jack C. of Arkansas, Richard D. of Kansas, and Donald G. of South Carolina; sisters Opal Smith of Nebraska and Vina Follers of Kansas; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray in 1987.
Graveside services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, July 9 at the Congress Cemetery, with Pastor Mike Abdollahzadeh officiating.
Brown's Wickenburg Funeral Home handled all the arrangements.
