OBITUARY
Mrs. Martha S. ABNEY of Olathe, KS died at her home May 5, after a short illness. She suffered a sudden stroke on May 1st from which she never gained consciousness. She was 79 years old.
Mrs. ABNEY was the daughter of M.J. and Mrs. Margaret BRIDGES MORGAN and was born in Cole County, ILL on July 15, 1865. She came West with her parents in a covered wagon when still a small child and lived practically her whole life in Paola, Kansas, Miami County. For the last two years she lived in Olathe.
December 25, 1881, she married William ABNEY at Summerset, Kansas. William preceded her in death eight years ago. She is survived by two sons, James F. of Olathe and Marion of Paola; four daughters Mrs. H.H. ROSE of Olathe, Mrs. Phil MITCHELL of Muskogee, OK, Mrs. Thomas HENRY of El Reno, OK, and Mrs. Sudie GLASSCOCK of Santa Fe, NM. She leaves 18 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, five of whom are in the military services. They are Seaman C.J. HENRY, Sgt. Bill HENRY, Cpl. Ned ROSE and Pvt. Ted ROSE.
Funeral services were held from Julien Mortuary conducted by Rev. H.E. COULTER, pastor of the Olathe Baptist Church. Internment was at Paola, Kansas where a short graveside service was conducted.
