Funeral services for Mrs. Charley Burk were held Tuesday afternoon at the United Church of Christ. Rev Walter Baumgartner officiated. Burial was in Morgan Township Cemetery, Schleswig.

Emma Christine Petersen, daughter of Lorenz and Wilhelmina (Suckstorf) Petersen, was born April 28, 1883 in Crawford County, Iowa. Her birthplace was the present site of the town of Schleswig. She was baptized in the Grant Township Lutheran Church and later became a member of that church through confirmation.

On July 1, 1906, she was united in marriage to Charley Burk by Rev. Hansen. To this union two daughters were born. They lived on their farm northwest of Schleswig. In 1949, they moved to the town of Schleswig. In 1956, they had the privilege to observe their golden wedding anniversary. She was a member of the Evangelical and Reformed Church and also a member of the Women's Guild.

She suffered a stroke on January 10, 1961. She received the best medical care, but her condition became serious and she passed away on February 4, 1961 at the age of 77 years.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Edward (LuVern) Schneider of Battle Creek and Mrs. Raymond (Frances) Abbe of Schleswig; one granddaughter; and two sisters, Amelia Miller of Schleswig and Ella Petersen of Battle Creek.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
