Son of William Riley "Doc" Medford and Nancy Colvard Marr Medford.

Married Mary Ann "Polly" Rogers Feb.7,1867 in Crabtree, Haywood Co., NC. Parents of nine children. After the death of Mary Ann "Polly" Rogers in June 1887 he married Mary Ann "Polly" Russell Feb. 28,1889 in Haywood Co., NC. Parents of six children.
