Mrs. H.A. Braaten, City Resident, Dies
Mrs. Hans A. Braaten, 86, of 926 10 1/2 St. S.E., a retired Salem Township farm homemaker, died at her home Thursday evening.
The former Ella T. Nereson, she was born Feb. 5, 1892, in Rock Dell Township in Olmste d County, and married Alfred Aaby. He died in 1913. She later married Hans A. Braaten on June 28, 1921, in Byron, and they farmed in Salem Township until retiring. Mr. Braaten died Feb. 28, 1968, and she then moved into Rochester.
Survivors include four sons, Hilman, David, Rueben and John Braaten, all of Rochester; a daughter, Mrs. Willis (Ellen) Lubahn of Oronoco; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Harry (Rikka) Hanson of Hanske, Minn., Mrs. Chris (Anna) Brenengen of La Crosse, Wis., and Mrs. Le Roy (Luella) Porter of Mantorville; 34 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alma Nereson of Rochester.
She was also preceded in death by a son, a daughter, five sisters and six brothers.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Monday at East St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Rock Dell, with the Rev. Lester Petersen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at Vine Funeral Home in Rochester after noon Sunday, on Monday until noon, then at the church one hour before the service.
