The Ohio County native was a loving husband and father. He was a graduate of Rockport High School, the last class, "Class of '56," which recently held its 50-year anniversary. He was the first born grandchild to the Geary family and a member of Echols General Baptist Church. He retired after 27 years from Lever Brothers in Whiting, Ind., where he was a machinist. He was also retired from Eaton Corp., where he was a maintenance supervisor. He was loved and his family will remember the good times. He was a son of the late Lester Abbott and Dorothy Abbott. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Karen Abbott; paternal grandparents, Harry and Della Abbott; and maternal grandparents, Greely and Lura Geary.
Funeral is at 2 p.m. Wednesday at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Lovers Lane chapel, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation is from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and begins at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his loving wife of 23 years, "Mattie" Christine Abbott; four sons, Phillip Abbott and Kenneth Abbott, both of Glasgow, Greg Lindsey and his wife, Donna, of White House, Tenn., and Brent Lindsey and his wife, Mildred, of Auburn; two daughters, Sarah Biershenk and her husband, Walter, of North Palm Beach, Fla., and Donna Coles of Bowling Green; a sister, Alice Henon and her husband, Robert, of Louisville; four brothers, Winston Abbott and his wife, Delois, of Cromwell, Paul Abbott of Beaver Dam, and Calvin Abbot and his wife, Teresa, and Lonnie Abbott, all of Echols; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
