MRS. CHARLES C. ABNET IS TAKEN BY DEATH TODAY

Local Woman Succumbs At Hospital; Rites Wednesday

Mrs. Dora Edna Abnet, 75, widow of Charles C. Abnet, died at 6:15 a.m. today at the Adams County Memorial hospital where she had been a patient since Feb. 21. Mrs. Abnet resided at 26 High street in Berne and spent all of her life in Adams county.

She had been ill since December 3, suffering a couple strokes and during her illness she fell and broke her pelvic bone. She had been in a critical condition for several weeks and in a coma part of the time.

A native of Jefferson township, Mrs. Abnet was born March 6, 1892, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Brewster. She married Charles Calvin Abnet October 24, 1918, in Berne. They lived on a farm in Jefferson township for many years and then moved to Berne. Mr. Abnet died Jan. 29, 1960.

Mrs. Abnet's late husband was trustee of Jefferson township for several years.

Surviving are a son, Don Abnet, Berne R.R. 2 and a daughter, Mrs. Herman (Esther) Habegger, Indianapolis, three granddaughters and two grandsons.

Two sisters and two brothers preceded in death. They were Mrs. Jesse (Harriett) Buckmaster, Mrs. Dale (Augusta) Rockwood and Frank and Fred Brewster.

Two half-brothers and two half-sisters are deceased.

Mrs. Abnet was a member of the First Missionary church in Berne.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Missionary church, Rev. Gerald Gerig, assisted by Rev. C. H. Wiederkehr officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery near Geneva.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Yager Funeral home and until 12:30 p.m. Wednesday when the body will be taken to the church.

MRS. CHARLES ABNET DIES THIS MORNING

Mrs. Charles (Edna) Abnet, 75, of 206 High street, Berne, died this morning at the Adams county memorial hospital at 6:15 a.m. of a cerebral thrombosis. She had been ill since Dec. 3.
The daughter of Daniel and Loverda Bebout Brewster, she was born March 6, 1892 in Jefferson township. She was the widow of a retired farmer, Charles C. Abnet, who died January 29, 1960. She was a member of the First Missionary church of Berne.
Two children, Don E. Abnet, of Berne and Mrs. Herman (Esther)Habegger of Indianapolis, and eight grandchildren, survive.
