JOHNSON CITY - Lillian Carol Akagi, 67, died Friday, April 28, 2006, at Stanton County Hospital in Johnson City. She was born June 22, 1938, in Marienthal, to Alfonse and Loretta Kessler Gerstberger.

She graduated from Marymount College in Salina in 1960. A Johnson City resident since 1962, Mrs. Akagi was an assistant supervisor at Stanton County Foods in Johnson City. She was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Johnson City.

In 1962, she married K. Akagi in Raton, N.M.

Survivors include a brother, Jerry Gerstberger of Overland Park; three sisters, Bernice Berning of Marienthal, Jola Kraus of Garden City, and Shirley Kuriyama of Amarillo, Texas; an adopted son, Monty Teeter of Johnson City; two adopted grandchildren; and two adopted great-grandchildren.

Vigil service will be 7 tonight at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marienthal. Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. Benjamin Martin officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Marienthal. Visitation hours are until 5 p.m. today at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Leoti.

Memorials are suggested to St. Bernadette Catholic Church, in care of the funeral home, Fourth and J streets, Leoti, KS 67861.
