Elzina L. Morris, 89, died at 3:20 p.m., Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at the home of her daughter in Jerseyville after battling cancer.
She was born June 12, 1919, in Kane , the daughter of Samuel and Maude (Keown) Abbott.
For many years she had been employed as a nanny caring for many children and was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church in Jerseyville.
Surviving are two daughters, Ella Jane Pointer of Jerseyville, and Priscilla Lane of Dow; three sons, Benny Morris and Gilbert Morris, both of Jerseyville, and Delbert Morris of Dalton, Ga.; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eunice Hinson of Alton and Wanda Wilkinson of Bowling Green, Ky.; two brothers, Samuel Abbott of Carrollton and Alonzo "Jack" Abbott of Jerseyville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Effie Polito, Eylene Walther, Clara Smith, Ellen Holmes, Betty Walters; and her brothers, Thomas L., William H., Emerson Leo, Herschel Robert Abbott.
Per her request her body has been cremated and private family memorial services will be conducted at a later date.
Memorials may be given to the Hope Lutheran Church in Jerseyville in care of Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.
