Einar Johnson, son of Ole and Martha (Dyvik) Johnson, together with Reyer Reyerson and Jacob Reyerson, came to the Hatton area by mule team and covered wagon in 1879. Einar filed on three quarters of land, as there were three homestead rights available at that time; they were homestead, tree claim and preemption.
Einar married Caroline Jenson of Northwood, Iowa in on Feb. 20, 1882.
The newly-weds moved to their farm, gradually adding buildings and expanding their land while, at the same time, their family grew.
Three boys were born into the family; Oscar on Jan. 11, 1883; Morven on Sept. 12, 1884 and Carl on July 24 1887.
Caroline was expecting a fourth child when Einar died four days before Christmas on Dec. 21, 1887.
Their fourth child, Eina, was born on Feb. 26, 1888, just a few days after what would have been the sixth wedding anniversary of Einar and Caroline.
