Mrs. Amy Ann Packwood, 80, one of the oldest and most beloved pioneers of Big Valley, Who passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ray Bullene in Salinas, CA at 6:30 p.m., March 31, was laid in her last resting place in Hillside Cemetery, Saturday afternoon.

Mrs. Packwood was born in Mr. Pleasant, Iowa on November 27, 1950 and in 1870 was married to James L. Packwood, who passed away in Bieber in 1913. She was one of the real pioneers of Big Valley coming here with her husband in June 1874, where she made her home until a few years ago when she went to Salinas to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Ray Bullene.

Mrs. Packwood is survived by two daughters, Mrs. S.J Thompson of Bieber and Mrs. Ray Bullene of Salinas, two sons, C.A. Packwood of Dunsmuir and Wm. Packwood of Susanville, a sister Mrs. Hollingsworth who lives in Nebraska, a brother Max Wilson in Utah, eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Than Mrs. Packwood had a host of friends in Big Valley was evidenced by the throng of true friends who attended the funeral to pay their tribute of respect to this dear old pioneer lady.

Rev. Joseph Steele of Adin, Officiated at the church and Adin Lodge of Eastern Star, which Mrs. Packwood was a member, conducted the last service to a departed sister at the cemetery.
