June 23, 1927
Louisa Varner was born December 6, 1849, in Muskingum county, Ohio. Here she lived with her parents until October 27, 1870, when she was married to W. H. Wilson.
In October 1872, she moved to Kansas with her husband. To this union was born five children, three of whom have preceded her to the great beyond. On April 7, 1887, the husband and father passed away leaving her to rear three of her children.
On January 30, 1890 she was married to Amos Plummer. She was again widowed on June 17, 1914. Since that time she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. A. M. Berkey of Kansas City, Kansas.
Early in her life she dedicated her life to God and has always remained true to her faith. Her little testament, now clasped in her hands for the last time, has always been a great comfort to her. She has been an example of the Pioneer Mother, standing beside her husband and helping fight the hardships, known only to the early settlers of a new country. She has seen her little ones taken from her, and still later losing her husband, struggling on to rear her remaining children. Through her whole life she has borne her troubles with a fortitude that can only come to one who has sincere faith in God.
After a short illness she peacefully slipped to her eternal rest at 6:30 a.m. June 12, 1927, at the age of 76 years, 6 months and 6 days.
She is survived by a son, Sherman E. Wilson, of Wetmore, Kansas; a daughter, Mrs. A. M. Berkey, of Kansas City, Kansas; and two grandchildren, Helen Virginia of the home, and W. W. Imm, of Cleveland, Ohio. Besides these she leaves relatives and friends who will sadly miss her. Interment was made in the cemetery at Soldier, Kansas .
