Visitation will be Monday, May 11, 10 a.m. to 7p.m. Vigil and Rosary will be at 7 p.m. at Tennant Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 12, at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Reverend Abalberto DeGante. Burial will be at Holyoke Memorial Park, Holyoke, Colorado.
Carl John Absmeier was born to Carl and Marie (Geiger) Absmeier in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He grew up in Oak Park, Ill, where he attended school and graduated. He attended Aquinis College in Grand Rapids, Mich. He mar ried Pat Carpenter on September 21, 1946. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp and was a night fighter and bomber pilot during World War II in the Chinese and African Theatre. He received the distinguished Fly ing Cross with a cluster. He
was honorably discharged in 1955. He moved to Colorado in
1947 after graduating from Michigan State and attended law school at Colorado Univer sity. He received a Juris Doc torate in 1950. The family moved to Holyoke and lived
there for 30 years.
He was a partner in the law firm with Ben Garmen in Holyoke. During that time he was a county judge. The couple moved to Sterling in 1979. He was a District Judge in Sterling from 1979 to 1986. He retired from the Bench in 1986.He was a member of St.Anthony Church, Sterling
Country Club, Colorado Bar Association and the American
Legion Post # 20.
He is survived by his wife Pat Absmeier; a daughter Pat Main and husband Warren of Aurora; two sons: Jeff Absmeier and wife Debbie of Holyoke and Dave Absmeier and wife Cindy of Greeley; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons Steve and Carl and a sister Mary.
Memorials may be made to St. Anthony School or the char ity of your choice.
