Paris "Pert" Accomasso, 81, of Atwood died on Friday, February 26,1998 in Sterling.
Visitation and viewing were held on Sunday, Feb. 28 from 12-8 p.m. and will con tinue today, March 1 until 8 p.m. at Chaney-Walters Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 2 at Chancy-Walters Funeral Home with services concluding at the funeral home with Father Bob Whipkey officiating. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. Accomasso was born on February 24, 1918 in Sterling to Paul and Eugenia Aimone Accomasso.
He was born and raised in Sterling attending Sterling schools and graduating from Sterling High School in 1935. The family moved to Atwood in 1940 where he was a partner in the family farming and ranching operation.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force on January 14, 1942 and saw action in WWII in the Northern France, Ardennes and the Rhineland campaigns and in England with the Eighth Air Force. He was discharged on May 1, 1946 with the rank of Tech. Sgt. and returned to the family farm.
On Sept. 21, 1947, he married Grace DeSoto in Sterling. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, BPO Elks Lodge No. 1336, VFW Post 3541, American Legion Post 20, DAV J.R. Bud Campbell No. 34, the Riverview Men's Golf Association and was a founder and volunteer at Devonshire
Acres.
His hobbies included golfing, fishing, hunting and watching his granddaughters perform in school activities.
He is survived be his wife Grace Accomasso of Atwood; a daughter, Elaine Martinelli and husband Gene of Lakewood; a son, Pary Accomasso and wife Sue of Atwood; a sister, Lillian Chidester and hus band Frank of Chula Vista, Calif.; a brother, Edward Accomasso of Atwood; two grandchildren Kari and Tessa Accomasso of Atwood, sis ters-in-law Clara Accomasso of Greeley, Lillie Manuello of Sterling and Angie DeSoto of Sterling; and brothers-in-law Tom DeSoto and wife Jen of Sterling, Marion "Oats" DeSoto and wife Mary of Sterling, Stan Guenzi of Sterling and John Bianco, Jr. of Sterling.
He was preceded in death by brothers Emil, Reb and Til Accomasso and sister Eve Accomasso.
Memorials can be made to Devonshire Acres Country Store, County Express Bus or the charity of the donors choice.
