Funeral services for Vema B. Acott, 78, of Fleming will be con ducted 2 p.m. Tuesday from Fleming United Methodist Church, the Rev. Eloise Saltzgaver officiating.
Burial will follow in the Haxtun cemetery.
Mrs. Acott, who lived most of her life in the Fleming area, died Saturday, Feb. 18, 1989, at the Haxtun hospital.
She was born March 19, 1910, in Fleming, the daughter of Henry Orton and Elizabeth Swedlund Wood, attended school in Fleming and graduated from the University of Northern Colorado.
She married Thomas K. Acott, Nov. 26, 1930, in Fleming and with the exception of a 13 year period in Dove Creek, the couple lived in Fleming, farming and ranching until retiring.
During this time, Mrs. Acott taught school at Dove Creek, Rockland, Crook and Haxtun prior to retiring in 1975. She had a winter home in Brownsville, Texas for eight years. Mr. Acott died Jan. 19, 1982.
Mrs. Acott was a member of Fleming United Methodist Church,
United Methodist Church Women's Club, Thursday Study Club and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna Beene of Gateway, and Dar lene Gorbutt of Fleming; a son, Thomas R. Acott of Fleming; two sisters, Beatrice Skold of Bellingham, Wash., and Evelyn Bortles of Mercer Island, Wash.; a brother, James Wood of Seattle, Wash.; five grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Chaney-Walters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
