He had lived in Warren County and Williamsport most of his life. He graduated from Williamsport High School in 1931. He had been president of Citizens State Bank, Williamsport, for 55 years, retiring in 1989. He also engaged in farming and raised Angus cattle.
In 1991 he was one of the founders and owners of Forest Park Insurance Inc., Williamsport. He was a member of the Williamsport United Methodist Church; F&AM Lodge #315 Pine Village; Scottish Rite Indianapolis Valley; Murat Temple Shrine, Indianapolis; and Elks Lodge, Danville, Illinois.
Surviving, are: two sons, George (Susan) Abel, Pine Village; John Abel, Williamsport; two daughters, Margaret (Charles) Kay, Route 2, Williamsport; Deborah Abel, Williamsport; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by five brothers.
Visitation will be at Fisher Funeral Home, Williamsport, after 5 p.m. today (Tuesday). Funeral services will be held in the chapel at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Revs. Charles B.
