Evelyn Mae Henderson, 91, of Park Rapids died Saturday, March 11, 2006 at Heritage Living Center of Park Rapids.
She was born Dec. 20, 1914 to Curtis and Clara Almeada (Lemon) Abbott in Carsonville Township, Becker County. She attended grade school at the Linnell Country School. She graduated from Park Rapids High School in the class of 1933 and then received her Teachers Training. She taught in Becker County for a number of years.
She married Marvin Henderson Oct. 26, 1940 in Osage. They moved to Omaha, NE. After World War II they returned to Park Rapids where they lived for the next 55 years. She lived in Woodland Court Apartments in Park Rapids before moving to Heritage Living Center in 2004.
She was involved with the cub scouts, a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid in Park Rapids.
She is survived by two children, Janice (Ronald) Zwald of Georgetown, IN and Eugene (Connie) Henderson of Osage; brother, Willard (Louise) of Park Rapids; three grand-children, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Marie, and infant twins.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church.
Funeral: 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Park Rapids with Revs. James Neubaurer and Matthew Thompson officiating. Organist will be Connie Shubert and Lynn Just will be singing "In the Garden." Congregational hymns will be "Just As I Am" and "Amazing Grace."
