Yvonne Uptmor passed away peacefully July 27, 2009 in Ellensburg, Washington. She was born December 7, 1919 in Cottonwood, Idaho, the daughter of Nora and Louis Abbl.
She married Vic Uptmor in 1940 and they settled in Vancouver, Washington.
Yvonne worked for the Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone Company, and then devoted her time to family. She was a talented Scout leader, a member of the Catholic Daughters at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, and the Clark County Quilters and the Sun Bonnet Sues quilting club. She enjoyed rock hounding and competing at music contests. Yvonne and her late husband, Vic, had fun times traveling together. Music was Yvonne's passion. She played piano, accordion, fiddle, guitar, mandolin, harmonica, harp, and zither. She enjoyed her time with the Washington Old Time Fiddlers, the Columbia Old Time Strings, the Mandophonic Orchestra, The Playmates at the Lupke Center, the Vancouver Pops Orchestra, and the Swiss Singing Society. She devoted many hours volunteering for the RSVP, playing music.
Yvonne is survived by her children, Roy (Lynn) Uptmor, Vic (Judy)
Uptmor, Louise (Bob) Korn, and Judy (Scott) Staples; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her sister, Margaret Forsman; and brother, Dennis Abbl.
Funeral services will be in Vancouver, Washington. The viewing will be Thursday, July 30, 2009 from 5:00-9:00 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The rosary will be prayed at 9:30 with Mass at 10:00 on Friday, July 31, 2009 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens afterward.
Yvonne's wish in her early years to play harp with the angels has been granted. She will be dearly missed.
