Mrs. Martha Jane Shaffer, widow of John Shaffer, died Wednesday at the home of a son-in-law, J.A. Cline, in Root township, Adams county. The deceased had formerly resided in Madison township, this county. She came to Allen county in 1839 and had resided here nearly her entire life. She was eight-one years of age. Surviving are two children- Amassa J. Shaffer, of Madison township, and Mrs. Mary Cline, of Adams county.
Funeral Friday, 1 p.m., residence of daughter.
