A native of Franklin Co., the son of the late WILLIS W. and Sarah Smith ABBOTT. He was of the Baptist faith, employed in the dietary department of Murdoch Center for over 30 years, and was retired from the Butner Youth Center.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Eakes Funeral Chapel in Creedmoor, by the Rev. Dan Hill. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are his wife, Loretta Roberts ABBOTT, a daughter, Sheila ABBOTT Averett and husband Johnny, of Youngsville, step-daughter, Sherry Parrott, and husband Tim of Stem, a brother, Jake ABBOTT of Butner, and a grandson, Randy Parrott. A daughter, Lisa Gail ABBOTT preceded him in death.
