MARION, Va. – Anna Laura Woods Adams, age 92, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, in the Francis Marion Manor in Marion. She was born in Sugar Grove, VA, on Aug. 11, 1916, to the late C.W. Woods & Laura Pickett Woods. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Pete, Boss and Buck; and four sisters, Frances, Irene, Bessie and Viola. She was employed as a cook at Marion Senior High School and had attended Mount Carmel United Methodist Church. She is survived by three special nieces, Doris Burnett, Margaret "Polly" Hall and Evelyn Sledge; numerous other loving nieces and nephews; and a great host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009, from the Bradley's Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Donna Hester officiating. Interment will follow in the Roundhill Cemetery, with Pastor Gary Trout officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of Southwest Virginia, 600 W. Ridge Road, Wytheville, VA 24382; the Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, 4329 Lee Highway, Marion, VA 24354; or the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 7, Marion, VA 24354. Bradley's Funeral Home of Marion is serving the family of Mrs. Adams.
