Charles Abbott, 79, a retired farmer of this community died suddenly at the home of his son, Ben Abbott, in Newton county, Indiana, at 4:45 o’clock Monday morning.
The remains were brought to the Canaday chapel where funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. Payne in charge. Burial was in Mt. Airy cemetery beside his wife.
Mr. Abbott was born in Paw Paw, Mich., on Feb, 23, 1866 and has been a resident of Momence since he was 11 years of age. He was married to Flora Chamberlain of Momence who preceded him in death on June 20, 1933.
Surviving in addition to the son at whose home he died, is another son Robert of Columbus, O., a daughter, Mrs. Verne Cantway of Momence and three grandchildren.
