Gladys Loretta Green, age 91, of Northfield, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at Fairview Hospital in Red Wing, following a brief illness.

Gladys was born May 5, 1918, near Trimbelle, Wis., the daughter of Frank and Josephine (Nadeau) Parmeter. She was raised as a young child in Wisconsin before moving to Red Wing with her family where she lived and attended school. On Oct. 29, 1936, Gladys was united in marriage to Deo Haster "Dick" Green in Chisholm. After various moves, they settled in their country home west of Nerstrand near Valley Grove Church where they lived for many years before moving to Northfield in the late 1990s.

Gladys worked for 18 years in housekeeping at Carleton College, primarily at Margaret Evans Dormitory.

Gladys is survived by her daughter, JoAnn Petersen of Northfield; sons, Douglas Greene of Byron, Wyo., and Richard Green of Lovell, Wyo.; sister, Hazel Ferber of Elsworth, Wis.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, at the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield. Interment will be in Bay City Cemetery in Bay City, Wis. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Monday at the Bierman Funeral Home.
