Anton Aanderud of near Maddock died at the Memorial Hospital on 5 Jun 1945 of a heart ailment of several years. Mr. Aanderud was born on 29 Jun at Vardal, Norway to parents Martin and Oleanne Aanderud. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at his home in Norway by Rev. Peter Bakke. At the age of 18 he emigrated to America coming to his brother, John, at Esmond. He worked at Hickson for some time and also at Maddock until he took a homestead in the neighborhood of Lemmon, SD. After a few years residence at that place he returned to Maddock living in the Viking community until he bought the farm two miles east of Maddock where he resided until his death. The last few years he has suffered from a heart ailment and complications and he was a patient at the Maddock Memorial Hospital for some time before he passed away on 5 Jun 1945 at the age of 59 years, 11 months and six days. He is survived by three brothers in this country, Johannes (John) of Maddock and Morris and Olaf of Voltaire, ND and August and Adolph in Norway. Two nephews Peter and Andrew Aanderud of Voltaire and two nephews and three nieces in Norway also survive. Tyler Aanderud, a near relative, made his home with him from early boyhood until he was of age. He came from Canton, OH to visit Mr. Aanderud for a few days while he was at the hospital. Funeral services were conducted from the Viking Lutheran Church on Saturday afternoon 9 Jun 1945 with Reverend G. R. Estrem officiating. Pallbearers were Robert Scott, Maurice Jacobson, Axel Malterud, Osmund Malterud, Carl Sundet and Alvin Sundet.
