Mrs. Eliza Frances Campbell, 77, passed away quietly May 31, at seven o'clock, at the home of her son Raymond W. Campbell. Death was due to infirmities of age. With her husband, James S. Campbell, the late Mrs. Campbell arrived in South Bend, 1934, for an indefinite visit with her son's family. Born in Camden, Illinois, 1859, Eliza Frances West lived in the Schuyler county vicinity for many years. In 1879 she married. Throughout all her life she was an active worker in the Methodist church and was president of the first Epworth League organized in her church. Survivors are; James S. Cmpbell, husband; three sons, R. W. of South Bend, Frank L. of Galesburg, Ill., Mark M. of Riverside, Calif., and one daughter, Mrs. Lee E. Arthur of Hollywood, Ill.; also seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held from the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon. Rev. Dow DeLong, Methodist pastor, was assisted in the services by Rev. Addison Self, Baptist minister. Internment was made in Fern Hill cemetery under direction of LeRoy Chambers. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Hammond, Mrs. A. W. Hammond, Mrs. F. M. Bond and Rev. DeLong furnished special music. Pallbearers were L. C. Hunt, W. A. Nelson, John Tucker, Chas. Hammond, Lon Schooler and E. T. Hazeltine.
