We have just learned that Mrs. Bettie Abbott received a phone message yesterday evening that her only brother Mr. Jap. Fincher died suddenly at his home near Lamar yesterday morning. He will be buried at Providence today.

Jeptha Fincher settled in Woodland, Alabama from Henry Co. Georgia. He donated the land and the lumber to start Providence Baptist church in the late 1850s. The church was founded in 1853; his farm must have joined the church property and he just gave them more. The house he lived in was still there until about 20 years ago according to RJ Fincher. Information provided by Onealia Camp 5/3/2015 via FAG member Connie Meeks Duffey.
