Came from Warren County, Illinois.

Colonel Gray leaves three sons - George D. James and Douglas, in Idaho, besides a daughter Mrs. Abernathy. In Illinois he leaves a son and three daughters - Mrs. A. Powers of Kirkwood and Mrs. Sarah Mitchell, of Biggsville.... Colonel Gray was born in Clark county, Indiana, on the 9th of October 1817, and came to Idaho City direct from Illinois in 1864. His career as a citizen was irreproachable, and while he died poor in this world's goods, he has left his children the pricesless legacy of a good name.
