Marian was pretty much the "Lucille Ball" type! (She was married to the "Archie Bunker" type -- what a combo!) She was always up to something, usually something having to do with her devout patriotism for her Revolutionary War ancestry, her interest in culture and peoples of all nationalities, her enjoyment of being in the "in" group, so-to-speak! She was thrilled when the family moved to the Bayshores' Community in Newport Beach, where movie star icon John Wayne just HAPPENED to also live. Marian spent her life giving many opportunities to her daughter (generally over the conservative views of her husband, Ross), including clothing, university life, debutante status, solo trips while still in school to the Midwest and Europe. An "artsy" person, Marian was the light and life of the family, so her early passing, from a stroke at the age of 53, devastated everyone. However, Marian would have been thrilled to have known that she is buried on a knoll, overlooking the Pacific Ocean and her favorite Fashion Island Shopping Center and near the grave of her down-the-street neighbor in life and now in death, John Wayne! After Marian's passing, Ross always said that his and Marian's grave-site was the only ocean view lot that they would ever own... HHB
