GREENBRIER – Marla Jo Abel, age 42, of Greenbrier, Tennessee, and formerly of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 9, 2009.
She was born on March 24, 1967, to Elaine Price Carden, of Mountain City, Tennessee, and the late Joe David Grindstaff. In addition to her father, Marla was preceded in death by her grandparents: Vaught and Betty Grindstaff, of Butler, Tennessee, and Dan C. and Eula C. Price, of Creston, North Carolina.
Marla was a member of Cobbs Creek Baptist Church of Butler, TN; a graduate of Johnson County High School and a 2005 graduate of ETSU, where she received her Nursing Degree. Marla was a United States Veteran, having served in the United States Army for four years and a member of the National Guard for 14 years. Marla was an employee of Centennial Hospital of Nashville, Tennessee.
Marla was a very loving, caring and giving individual and had many, many special friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 13, 2009, at the Mountain City Funeral Home.
The funeral service will follow at 8:00 p.m.
Graveside Service and Interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 14, 2009, from the Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Butler, Tennessee.
At other times, friends may call at the home of Marla's parents.
