Eagle Creek resident Roland Leon "Lee" Abbett, 69, died Sunday, Nov. 15, at his home, surrounded by family.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at Sandy Funeral Home, 39551 Pleasant St. Private interment will be at Forrester Cemetery.

Lee was born Oct. 27, 1940, in Troy, Kan., to Joseph and Irene Abbett, the oldest of six brothers and sisters. He grew up in St. Joseph, Mo., where he met KAREN GRAF. They were married Nov. 10, 1961.

Lee and Karen moved to Oregon in 1964 and made their home in Eagle Creek. Lee worked as a diesel mechanic for United Grocers and retired after 20 years. He enjoyed gardening, auto mechanics, camping and family gatherings.

His sons, Roland "Lee" Abbett Jr. and William "Paul" Abbett, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife; daughter, Julie Retterer of Sandy; son, James Abbett of Eagle Creek; mother, Irene Keck of Portland; and five grandchildren.

Sandy Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
